Continuing our journey towards north Italy, we stopped at three villages for a quick visit, just a few kilometers away from Modena: Vignola, Castelvetro and Spilamberto. All three were very nice, although each of them gave us very different impressions. Dozza, art village
Dozza is a small but quite unique village, a few kilometers south of Bologna. Over the last 50 years it hosts the Biennial Exhibition of the Painted wall (Biennale del Muro Dipinto). Internationally renowned artists are invited to create their works using the walls of the village as canvases. Therefore, it was created over the years an open air gallery with more than 200 works. The effect is simply amazing!

As it often happens, you never know what surprises are around the corner! In our case it was the Rocchetta Mattei. Hard to believe that this surrealistic castle is just a few kilometers from Bologna!
