Archaelogical Athens: Temple of Olympian Zeus & Panathinaiko stadium

Atene, Stadio Panathinaiko
This post concludes the Archaeological Athens saga and for a while I promise not to talk again about archeology 🙂 So, last but not least: the arch of Hadrian, the Temple of Olympian Zeus and the Panathenaic Stadium.

The arch of Hadrian and the Temple of Olympian Zeus

(entrance 2€ / included in the special package ticket)

Atene, Arco di AdrianoThe Arch of Hadrian is located on the side of one of the main streets of Athens, opposite the pedestrian street that leads to the Acropolis (Dionisiou Aeropagitou), just beside the archaeological site of the Temple of Olympian Zeus, whose entrance is on the east side.
Since its inclusion in the unified ticket, visits to this site has grown exponentially. Until a few years ago it was rather ignored, being slightly off the classic tourist trail and disadvantaged by the fact that the temple can be clearly seen from the outside. What you cannot imagine is that apart from the majesty of the columns seen up close, from the inside you have views of the Acropolis between the columns of the temple that, specially with the morning light, are really something.

The entrance is 3€ and reductions do not follow the rates of other archaeological sites, for more information better have a look at their website.
