The true essence of Monastiraki can be found in Avissinia square every morning; in the heart of the old neighborhood of the center of Athens, just a few steps from the entrance of the archaeological site of the Agora. A flea market in full-blown, not a bit touristy in spite of the area, where you can find the most disparate objects.

The square is particularly suited because it has always been the square of antiques shops for furniture and various other objects. On Sunday morning, traditionally junk dealers gathered here and improvised a flea market, where you could find almost everything. In the recent years it no longer happens only on Sundays, but every day… as you will see from the photos, there’s no limit to what you can buy!
