This post starts a short series dedicated to the Mani peninsula, also known as Eastern Mani or Laconian Mani. One area that certainly should not be missed when traveling in the Peloponnese.

A quiet beach, non-touristy, about 20 kilometers from Gythion, Kamares, is a great place to stay overnight and for early risers, with a beautiful sunrise over the sea to be enjoyed.

Continuing south, the road along the coast is spectacular, but we did not find reason to stop for nearly 40 kilometers up to the village of Dimaristika, which is the first announcement that we have entered in Mani itself. Not only the houses are built as stone towers, but even the cemeteries! (photo below)
And in fact, after only another 4 km you will get to Lagia, one of the most representative villages of the architecture of Mani, partially renovated. Here it is worth to take a stroll through the narrow streets of different neighborhoods.
