An alternative route for those who do not want to do the classic route that passes by Kosmas, about twenty kilometers less and particularly indicated for those planning to stop at Fokianos …

Starting from Plaka, the beach of Leonidio, take the road described for Fokianos, passing through Poulithra. Instead of turning left to Pigadi, continue straight for Peleta-Kremasti. After Peleta there is still a short stretch of dirty road, about one kilometer and a half, but in very good condition. Arriving in Kremasti you come to a fork, go left for Kyparissi. After about one kilometer take left again for Kyparissi. Another 23 kilometers and you come to a junction with a church. On the left it goes down to Kyparissi, if you take the right it continues for Gerakas. After you come to a stop sign, turn left to Reichea-Gerakas. From Reichea there is a road to the beach of Vlichadas, I missed it, but it seems to me interesting! 😉 However, soon after you pass by the fjord in Limani Gerakas, then Ariana beach, always keeping the left you’ll pass the beach of Pori and finally get to Monemvasia.
Kyparissi
A detour of 15 kilometers to a steep and narrow, but very spectacular road leading to Kyparissi and its beach. The town is cute, beautiful sea, taverns, but few places to stop and several bans for free camping… I leave the choice up to you…[GPS N36.975318, E 22.991338]
Limani Gerakas
Limani Gerakas has the characteristics of a fjord, nice location, with a lot of fish taverns to choose from. It can be a nice break. You can park at the entrance of the village, where the road to the archaeological site begins (see photo below) or at the end of the road on the pier.[GPS N 36.785362, E 23.086808]

On the left: the parking lot at the entrance of the village, that could also be a good stopover point if it were not for the smell of stagnant water … pity!

The access is a bit tight and not easy to maneuver with longer vehicles.
