We decided to go to Euboea literally at the last minute and, as if that was not enough, during peak season, the second week of August! It turned out to be the best choice. This so far ‘off the tourist radar’ island has endless beaches with sapphire-blue water and plenty of space to enjoy wild camping. Although we had planned to explore the entire island, we managed to check out only the south and a part of the center. There are good reasons to return!

Plato’s Academy
If you belong to those who believe that the only evidence left from Plato was his books, maybe you should reconsider. The ruins of his philosophical school, the Academy, are still existing in a degraded neighborhood in the backyard of Athens historic center. Nobody seems to care though! Athens, the New Acropolis Museum
It goes without saying that you will visit it regardless of whether you like archeology or not. The New Acropolis Museum is ranking high in all listing of the best museums in the world, despite the fact that it is a thematic archaeological museum. In contrast with the other multicultural ‘stars’ as the Louvre, the Prado or the Hermitage, all exhibits in displays are from Acropolis hill, just across the road . It’s not only majestic, it’s controversial too!!!
