Searching for the best ‘tiropites’ (cheese pies) in Athens, all roads lead to downtown! Although it is rather unlikely that you will be disappointed if you choose any central bakery or snack cafe (there are everywhere, even in the most tourist areas), certain places have earned a reputation among Athenians and there is a good reason for that. I selected three of them plus four snack cafes where you can try lοukοumàdes, the Greek doughnut.

Street food in Athens (the traditional way…)
Tiropites, koulouria, loukoumades … Walking around the streets of Athens it’s hard not to notice the countless shops, bakeries, cafes, bars, plus street vendors selling tempting foodstuffs. As appealing as they may be, the fact that they are so many and various and that it’s not easy to identify the ingredients, it may discourage the less experienced, especially the vegetarians… It would be such a pity not to taste some!
A word about public transport in Athens
Driving around with your motorhome in Athens it is probably not a wise idea unless it is August 15th. If you want to visit the city, the ideal is to find a parking space in the suburbs, possibly along the subway line and then use the public transport to reach the center. Once there almost everything is within walking distance.
