We follow the coast leaving behind us Frangokastello. We stop to ‘evaluate’ the beaches that we find along the way and in Plakias we also make a brief visit to the campsite. Few kilometers further we find another freedom paradise, Amoudi, before arriving at the parking lot of Preveli, from where the path starts to get to the famous exotic beach among the palm trees.

In the picture on the left our first stop: the beach at Korakas [35.18766,24.31592]. Beautiful, but with little chance to find a flat parking spot. It can be a refreshing break, but not recommended for overnight stay. The same goes for Souda beach [35.19208,24.36448] in the picture below. Super beach, complete with palm trees and nudist area, but virtually impossible to park a motorhome.
We arrive at Plakias, where it seems that motorhomers are not very welcome! Even if the beach is huge and beautiful and very easy to find a spot to park, especially on the south of the beach, it is one of the classic super tourist resort, which makes it pointless to insist. If this is what you were looking for, the best solution is probably to stay in the campsite.
The camp Apolonia [35.18840,24.39965] has more than logical fees, especially considering the area. Unfortunately it is not on the beach and facilities for campersvans are not the best, but hit as a nice pool and you should be able to find a place in the shade quite easily.
A little further down we find ourselves on the beach of Ammoudi: a paradise! The beach is beautiful and it is evident that you can stay with your vehicle a few meters from the sea in full freedom.
Finally we arrive at our destination, Preveli beach. Actually we arrive at the parking lot of the beach [35.15384,24.46984] (€ 2/day), from where the path with its 450 steps, leads to the beach. The car park is open from 10 to 18.00, but it’s only the cashier office that closes, you can enter and exit at any time and overnight stay is tolerated.
The beach is located at the mouth of a gorge that can be hiked for several hundred meters following the river, in the middle of a palm tree forest … more exotic than that! 🙂
