As we had little time at our disposal before leaving Italy, we decided to spend it in the best possible way. The sights around Rimini Fiera (where the convention we had attended took place) were plentiful but the choice wasn’t that hard. We headed to San Marino hoping to discover something different and it was indeed unique although not for the obvious reasons!

Crete, Akrotiri’s monasteries
On our way to Chania, last stop on our tour to the four corners of Crete, we decided to make a short detour and to visit the two monasteries of Akrotiri peninsula, often classified as “must-see” of the island. The first, moni Tzagarolon, is well worth its reputation. The second, moni Gouvernetou, was closed for restoration works so we have to content ourselves with a hike down to the deserted monastery of Katholikon. And it was really unique!
Crete: Ancient Eleftherna and around
Elefterna is supposed to be the ‘next big thing’ on Crete’s archaeological map. A brand new museum is expected to be open in 2015 (or later, who knows?) along with the archaeological site itself. What follows is a sort of preview, as we had the opportunity to visit the site few years ago during a press trip. This time we had to content ourselves with a walk around the perimeter, where we found some interesting things to see. Not bad at all!
