If you belong to those who believe that the only evidence left from Plato was his books, maybe you should reconsider. The ruins of his philosophical school, the Academy, are still existing in a degraded neighborhood in the backyard of Athens historic center. Nobody seems to care though! To tell the truth, even I who was born, raised and have spent most of my life in Athens, I had never crossed the threshold of this ‘lost in the crowd’ archaeological site.

Few words about driving in Greece
Driving in Greece and particularly in Athens, one might have the impression that signs and traffic lights are optional or serve an advisory role and that Greek drivers don’t share the same traffic code with the rest of Europe. Well, after years of driving in this country, I can safely say that this is not just an impression! The rules are the same; what changes is the interpretation!
Street food in Athens (the traditional way…)
Tiropites, koulouria, loukoumades … Walking around the streets of Athens it’s hard not to notice the countless shops, bakeries, cafes, bars, plus street vendors selling tempting foodstuffs. As appealing as they may be, the fact that they are so many and various and that it’s not easy to identify the ingredients, it may discourage the less experienced, especially the vegetarians… It would be such a pity not to taste some!
