stemnitsaAs we were in Dimitsana, we took the chance to visit another monastery, Moni Filosofou, which is actually two: a recent one, built in the mid-seventeenth century and an older one in complete ruin, dated 936. Also in this case, it is not easy to get there. The road is narrow and you have to walk a bit, but for the more adventurous is definitely a destination to consider.

Agios Ioannis Prodromos and Gortynia

stemnitsaThe monastery of Agios Prodromos is a place you’ll never visit by chance!
To get there you have to walk for about an hour starting from Stemnitsa, descending into the gorge of the river Lousios, or, as we did, drive 8km on an atrocious road to get to a parking lot just half a kilometer from the monastery and from there continue on foot .

The Miracle of Saint Theodora

agia_theodoraMaybe miracle is a big word, but we must recognize that what happens in Arcadia with the church of Saint Theodora, or Aghia Theodora, is just not normal. From its roof 17 trees come out, some of considerable size, but their roots do not interfere with the interior of the church, nor with its walls. Seeing is believing!
