Continuing our journey towards north Italy, we stopped at three villages for a quick visit, just a few kilometers away from Modena: Vignola, Castelvetro and Spilamberto. All three were very nice, although each of them gave us very different impressions. Apparently every place generates different vibrations influencing thus our judgment beyond its proper aesthetic beauty. Or, perhaps, it is just the fact that we are becoming really peculiar :)
Bologna, magic city
I can’t count how many times we passed by Bologna traveling by car, by motorcycle, by train, by bus and of course with our camper van. But rethinking about it, I’d say that all these times we merely avoided the big city of Emilia Romagna, with the excuse that we have to go elsewhere. We were simply convinced that it wasn’t worth a visit … What a big mistake!
Dozza, art village
Dozza is a small but quite unique village, a few kilometers south of Bologna. Over the last 50 years it hosts the Biennial Exhibition of the Painted wall (Biennale del Muro Dipinto). Internationally renowned artists are invited to create their works using the walls of the village as canvases. Therefore, it was created over the years an open air gallery with more than 200 works. The effect is simply amazing!
