We visit Carpentras on a Friday morning, to go to the weekly market, known as the largest and the most important of the entire Provence but also to take advantage of the nearby camper stop where we discover how well-organized and friendly the French are towards motorhomes! Avignon
We left behind us Germany crossing the French border and keeping driving southwards to exit as soon as possible from the ‘-0°C‘ zone. We managed to arrive to Avignon, with only one intermediate stop though not without adventure. Impressed by the ‘papal glamour’ of the city, and encouraged by the more human-friendly temperature, we stayed there for almost a week!
Bamberg and the Germany experience
We run away from the cold of Berlin aiming to arrive as quickly as possible in southern Europe to warm up a bit. Our plan was to enter France from Alsace following the rivers, thus avoiding the mountain roads and the cold. But when we arrived in Bamberg we changed our mind. Cold, not cold, it was impossible not to stay for a couple of days visiting this lovely town.
