I have just returned from Thessaloniki, where for ten days I have been following the international documentary festival. An event that for years I do not miss and an opportunity to enjoy the city in spring version combined with an excellent selection of films and other events. This year I also managed to break my previous record and seeing 36 films, one better than the other!

The Thessaloniki film festival has earned year after year the reputation of being one of the most important in Europe. Divided into two appointments, one for fiction in November, and one in March dedicated exclusively to documentaries, attracts thousands of enthusiasts and insiders. Six theaters operate at full speed from noon to night, projecting the best of world and of course Greek production. All films are screened in their original language, with subtitles in English and Greek, in most cases the director is present to answer questions from the audience after the screening. The cost of individual tickets is 4 Euros, or you can opt for an affordable block of ten tickets for 25 €.
The central Aristotelous Square, where you will find the Olympion, the main cinema of the festival, and the central kiosk that works as box office as a information center and store for programs and special editions of the festival. To avoid long rows better buy your tickets at the harbor box office.
One of the docks is home to four of the theaters, as well as an art gallery and two museums, one of photography and one of the cinema.
The exhibition of the photographer Enri Canaj was one of the most interesting parallel events organized this year by the festival.
