A separate post for two museums not to be missed in Colmar. The first is the Musée d’Unterlinden, housed in a Dominican convent, included the list of the most important museums of France. The second is a small museum dedicated to the sculptor Frédéric-Auguste Bartholdi, designer of the Statue of Liberty and Lion of Belfort, hosted in his native home.

You can not miss the building of the museum, on the threshold of the historic center. An impressive monastery of XIII century with a constant line waiting to get in! The museum is currently undergoing renovation and works are expected to finish by the summer of 2014, however, it remains open and you can see its most famous piece: Issenheim Altarpiece by Matthias Grünewald.
Entry costs € 8 including the audio-guide in English, there are reduced rates for youth and other categories.
From May to October, the museum is open daily from 9.00 to 18.00, while from November to April, from 9.00 to 12.00 and from 14.00 to 17.00, closed on Tuesdays.
Very interesting is the Bartholdi museum, showcasing a variety of designs, drawings, models, etc. of the famous sculptor, but also personal items and other curiosities related to his life.
The museum is open from 10.00 to 12.00 and from 14.00 to 18.00 every day except Tuesdays. It is closed during the months of January and February.
