Chur, capital of Graubünden

Switzerland, Chur
europe_switzerlandCoire or better Chur, despite being the capital of one of the Swiss cantons, is not well known. The small fame that may have is due more to its proximity to the ski slopes and to be on the road to Davos. In fact, as the city it has not much to offer the visitor, but it’s still a nice stop for an overnight stay and a walk along the narrow streets of the old town.

Switzerland, ChurArriving to Chur you are not exactly impressed by its beauty. The modern part, with the exception of a pair of buildings, does not have anything in particular. The old town on the other hand is pretty and well kept, but even this is nothing particularly original. In short, capital or not, it is not a destination worth to be added to an itinerary except as a stopover, if it is on your way.

Switzerland, ChurThe free parking, good also for an overnight stop [46.85483,9.50600], on the outskirts of the city (pictured at right) is quiet and served by shuttle buses that connect with the center. For those who want to park closer to the center, I suggest the parking [46.84731,9.52510] for a fee but you will most probably find a place.
